FAQ
Below are the most frequently asked questions about 3D/4D ultrasounds. For any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us by phone at: (270) 904-3085 or for your convenience, you may use the contact form on the Contact Us page.
A: 3D is a still image while 4D adds the dimension of motion so that it looks like a video. A 4D Ultrasound is the continuous 3D scanning of the baby at multiple angles in real-time.
A: Extensive studies over 30 years have found that Ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the United States. Using the same safe ultrasonic sound waves as used in your doctor's office, our 4D ultrasound equipment provides a resolution and clarity unsurpassed in the industry. 3D and 4D Ultrasound both utilize sound waves to look inside the body. The technology is similar to radar. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image. 4D Ultrasounds will be similar to a conventional scan in terms of exposure. Combining the guidelines of cutting-edge technology with our Voluson 730 Pro, and our specially trained ultrasound technicians, you can rest assured knowing you are receiving the highest quality elective imaging available. We offer the finest 4D prenatal experience.
Q: What kind of equipment do you use to perform the 3D/4D ultrasound?

Q: Do I need an appointment for a 3D/4D ultrasound?
A: Yes, we require appointments for our sessions, however, we welcome you to come in any time for information or to make an appointment.
A: That depends on what you are looking to see. If you are planning on only having one session, the exam would be best performed between 24 and 34 weeks. However, many mothers like to come in twice. Once early on at 16-26 weeks, so they can see so the baby as a whole, and then again at 25-34 weeks to see a more detailed face. Between 28 and 32 weeks, your baby develops more fat and gets a more defined face. After 34 weeks, it becomes harder to obtain good pictures since the baby is running out of room. However, all babies are different, and great images have been successfully obtained all the way up to 39 weeks. For twins, it's recommended to have your session before 30 weeks.
A: Because this is an elective procedure, it is not covered through insurance.
A: Drink plenty of water even days before the appointment to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear. About an hour before your 3D/4D ultrasound, try to drink a fruit juice so that your baby will be awake during your session. (Unless you are told not to by your physician.)
Q: Will I always get great 3D images of my baby?
A: We can obtain wonderful 3D images of your baby in most cases. However, sometimes the baby's position may make it difficult to see the baby's face. For example, if the baby is face down (facing your spine) it would be much harder to get a picture of his/her face. In the event that we are unable to see the baby's face, we will give you a complimentary rescan to try and get images of the face at a later time. There are also other factors that will effect the result of your scan, such as; amount of fluid, location of placenta, and gestational age. Every baby scan differently, but we will make every effort to get the best possible images.
Q: Can you determine the baby's gender during the 3D/4D ultrasound?
A: In almost all cases we can provide confirmation of the baby's gender during your scan (only if requested).
Q: How long is the 3D/4D ultrasound session?
A: We would like for you to set aside approximately one hour for your session. Some of this time will be used to complete your registration and to print pictures and finalize DVD/CD.
Q: Are family and friends welcome to join?
A: Yes! We encourage you to bring your friends and family to share this experience with you. Children are also welcome. Between sitting and standing room, we can accommodate 6-7 people to be with you during your ultrasound. The ultrasound is viewed on a large projection screen so that everyone is able to see with ease.
Q: How much does the 4D ultrasound cost?
A: We have several different packages to choose from. We also run various specials and offer different discounts which can be seen with our packages on our Pricing page.
Q: How can I pay for the ultrasound?
A: We currently accept all major credit/debit cards and cash.
Q: When do I get my 3D/4D pictures and videos?
A: Less than 5 minutes after your session has ended.
Q: Will my doctor be contacted about the 3D/4D ultrasound?
A: We do not contact your doctor prior to the scan since this is an elective procedure. If we do see something wrong during the scan, we contact your doctor and send them the report. We do require however, that you are currently under prenatal care and if you have any concerns, you should ask your doctor. Ultrasound technicians in general cannot make a diagnosis.
